Marco
Cappato was born in Milan (Italy) on the 25th of may 1971; he studied in a 'liceo
classico' and then graduated in economy at the Bocconi University of Milan. He
became general councillor of the 'Club Pannella Mouvement' in 1994, and in 1995
he was elected National Councillor of the Mouvement and general councillor of
the Radical Party. In the same year he started working as civil official for the
Radical Group in the European Parliament. In 1996 he was elected treasurer of
CORA (Radical Anti-prohibitionnist Co-ordination). In 1998 he represented the
Radical Party at the United Nations in New York. In february 1999 he became Coordinator
of the 'Radicals for the Liberal revolution and the United States of Europe'.
In june he was elected as MEP for the Lista Bonino. He is member of the EP Committee
for citizens' freedoms and rights, justice and home affairs, and rapporteur on
the report on privacy in electronic communications.
