Biographie


Brian Beamish
directeur des politiques et de l'application de la loi auprès du commissaire à l'information et à la protection de la vie privée de l'Ontario (Canada)

 

Brian Beamish joined the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner/Ontario in January, 1999 as the Director of Policy and Compliance. A member of the IPC's executive committee, he directs IPC research and policy development and is a keynote speaker for the Commission. Brian graduated from the University of Toronto Law School and has been called to the Ontario Bar.

Prior to joining the Commission, Brian worked in the Ontario Public Service, primarily with the Ministries of the Solicitor General and Correctional Services. This included roles in policy development and legal services.

As Director of Policy and Compliance, Brian is involved in many projects with the public and private sectors dealing with the interplay between privacy and technology. He has also been involved in a number of cross-jurisdictional initiatives, including a joint project with the United States Department of Justice to develop privacy design principles and a Privacy Impact Assessment for criminal justice systems.
