Richard
is the Corporate Privacy Officer for Microsoft Corporation and is responsible
for defining corporate policies for fair information practices driving trusted
customer relations and consumer data protections and privacy. Additionally, he
is charged with directing and implementing practices for data collection, use,
storage, and transfer and for leading the specifications for privacy-enabling
technologies in Microsoft products and services.
Richard
was a member of the FTC Advisory Committee on Online Access and Security. In his
nine years at Microsoft, he has held positions of authority in customer information
and database management with the MS Marketing Database, the microsoft.com Web
site, and various customer engagement systems.
Before
joining Microsoft, Richard held data management positions in technology and consumer
marketing companies. He has over 18 years experience in database marketing, marketing
analysis, management information systems, and financial planning. Richard has
a BA from the University of Washington, Seattle.
